Tas been such a long time since ive updated this, so i thought id post.

Stirling was a nice place but i cant have my car for the first year, that will cause me problems either relying on the train all the time OR getting some one to drive for 6hours up to scotland - any offers?!

Hmm i have an exam tomorrow !! and it *should* be easy *touch wood* ! oh and my parents are going away next week - so this is the offical party notice - confirmed details sooon !

Right, i have FINALLY decided what i am going to do, next year - the Cisco CCNA course - hell the Microsoft/Cisco Foundation Degree was really tempting but, well it isnt to be... I dont really want to be in this hell hole for another TWO years - ONE is bad enough!

Please put a gun agaisnt my head and pull the triger - comes to mind at the moment ! i hate the fact that exactly 12 months ago my parents had the same chuffing argument about what i was going to do at college - and how about not to waste time etc... Parents WHO needs them eh?

Anyways on thursday im gonna go and ASK them at uni, if what i have WILL be enough (with print outs) and go well if it isnt, what can i change to IMPROVE it ?!
I have a terrible feeling they will just laugh at me for having perfetic grades in everything else - hell i would !

Well okay, so im signing up for college in a couple of days (for another year or two), and well i have a problem, I could do, Cisco CCNA Advanced, OR I could do a NEW course which isnt in the current propsectus but gives me the option to become Microsoft Certified   which bascially in the world of getting a job, looks great and also gives me a big huge heads up for most jobs.
The pass rate is only at 40% but ill be looking more towards a merit at 60% - Im going up to stirling on thursday but it may be that i dont go to uni untill 2007 not 2006 like i had planned !

What to do? an extra year here and NOT at uni, but spending it at UCLAN - OR just do the Cisco Course and go to uni in stirling for 2006 - god what do i do?!

Any way I want a laptop - but Im being a cheapskate and trying not to blow tooo much on eBay :p but i do want a semi-decent laptop so 500Mhz plus

Well hmm its the first of june - and i need to fix my FHM clanender  - it still says may (only just)

Im off up to stirling in 2 weeks - that should be cool going to look at the uni, find out if i can actually apply *hopes so* or if i need to do another 2 years at college, rather than this one year that im planning on doing!

Right

Chris's server got hacked the other day - due to exploits not being properly blocked...

Anyway - i spent a few hours trying to make the server ALOT more SECURE that what it was... - I *attempted* to close all the security holes and actually there was only one or two that wernt fixed - one of them being SSH (how to connect to the server - like a DOS window)

4pm I told Chris the server was hacked

5pm - zlib was removed - that left nearly everything USLESS

8pm  - Got zlip REINSTALLED (via webmin only thing that worked)

8.30ish got a phone call of Paul saying everything was down email, web, database - web and email where up and mysql was simple to restart

9pm started to talk to server host about the problem, and showed LOGS of where the attack had come from

12pm - Spent 3 hours trying to REINSTALL a non-broken version of SSH

At 1am I had told chris i would try and back up his VLE/CPEuk website - and the SQL for Capricon - that is all !

2.30am - Downloaded the CPEuk website to hard disk and the Capricon SQL database - had MEANT to download the Capricon website as well "just in case"

12pm - Server company had formatted and reinstalled the server

1.15pm - Setup the NEW server with NEW security percautions

1.30pm - Came to upload the Capricon Website - Didnt have - checked hard drive and its not there - note at this point i texted Chris STRAIGHT AWAY

2pm - Spoke to Chris and told him i DIDNT have the Capricon website

3pm - Sent him everything i HAD off the Server... - New root password, and everything else including what logs of the attack i had gotten hold off!

5pm - Went out to see "The Mang Mang Mangs" with Jenny and James and Spoon and Dodgy Rob and his gf (whos name i CANT remember)

1am - Dropped Spoon, Jen and James off - came home and found this:

Anyway MSN Search DID post Google as being more evil than satan - on the picture you may notice that Microsoft is second most evil on the list! ! !

Hey! Ive just finished work
Anyway - ive plugged the modem in and i can connect when i connect via that - granted its erm slightly awful connection, im still tryin to work out how im gonna get the router and the modem to work together - think it may involve a bit of manual IP setup and no DCHP :(

Oh well wait for this download then ill try the whole router thing

i'll update again if it actually works

Yay this morning i managed to get it working - with help from Google Groups - oh and finally remembering to allow the computer to connect

Phil's Comment: The supplied modem is USB (Speedtouch) - cant use that with a router
The logic ? my brother is an annoying sod and likes to use the internet - so he can in HIS room and i dont have the hassle  [Wireless]

Okay after talking to James on msn i had an idea  

This is a really easy question - does anyone have a photo of me and James?

Okay today went well go up at 11am, turned pc on went fine - had some lunch came to use the internet - everything came up Page Can't be Displayed - so restarted my adsl modem/router (from Belkin) and the bastard thing never came back  errr bollocks - got some SLIGHTY dodgy DHCP connection [Thats where the modem gives my computer an IP - rather like when you connect to the internet you get an ip to visit the web with].
Slighty being it was setting me with 168.72.x.x ip's - rather then 192.168.2.x ip

Sooo like you do its another trip to PC World (Yes i know hell on earth etc) told them what was wrong and said i wanted a diffrent router/modem - an saw this Linksys router - and thought this will do! should work being Cisco based.

Got home came to plug ADSL cable from phone socket in - and realised there isnt actually a DSL modem on this new linksys router *eeek* - so Im using my fcuked Speedtouch USB modem *for now* and Thursday see's a trip to Scan to get a new DSL Modem !

Hey!

So life life never stands still, and people move on in to their lifes, people get forced in to primary then high school, then goto college and uni and get a job etc!

Okay - so im doing this the wrong way roung, i did the whole primary/high school thing, and i got a job 3.30 an hour (wow!) - it was money in my poket, we were going to the pub (nearly) everynight an fell i could afford it - then well time started to slip by and i tock a step back from my life and looked at what i had become, a supervisor at Spar - with stress from Customers, and Staff - hell i had to smile and be polite to the customers even though i hate them or i was havin a shite day
   So i tock this step out of my self, looked at what i became, and went to Connections (Careers advice centre - they renamed them selfs again), and asked about college and to do with computers - well they gave me a 16-18 leaflet - hell i was 18 at the time, so it was good - went to an interview at college the day before my 19th birthday and was told i was not allowed to do the course i had applied for - i kinda was shocked then BUT they gave me a an Adults education booklet - 19 and reading an 'ACE' booklet - well anyway i applied to college.

This is where i am now, - ive taken another step and now im looking at UNI and a Second year at college, this is scary since well Ive never been in to the whole EXTRA education after leaving school, but i either stay where i am, still stressed out by working in a tiny spar, attempt to get a job in computers (this has proven really difficult - the more 'Sorry you havnt been offered this part, this time' letters the get, the more i think why do i bother?)
So here is the step i have chosen to take, get off my fat lazy ass and am looking at Applying to Uni - the uni of choice at the moment is Stirling [ http://www.stir.ac.uk ](Scotland - Near Edinburg).
There has been some comments about going to UCLAN [ http://www.uclan.ac.uk ] but it dosnt look great - Yes i know your going there phil and No James i havnt forgot you work there mate, anyway im only looking at the moment and if i decided ill post a link here!

I should be at college this afternoooon  - but my tutor is ill and there was no one to cover (yay) Soooo i went in to town and said Hellooo! to Jenny after her and matt left kebab and cheese in my car <- sorry i meant to bitch at you for that - so ive done it here instead!

Got home and this fucking twat blocked the drive then told this woman it was MY FAULT there are BAD EVIL people in the world
